Frequently asked questions
We hope everything you need to know about laser hair removal is on this page, but if it’s not please contact us and we can talk through any laser hair removal questions you have.
Is Laser Hair Removal Treatment safe?
The safety of our patients is paramount. Before starting any treatment we perform a patch test on the area to be treated, e.g. the bikini area for the bikini laser or the back area for the laser to the back. The patch test helps to assess how your skin will respond to the laser hair removal treatment.
How long does Laser Hair Removal Treatment last?
Is it permanent?
Laser hair removal treatment is the only method of hair removal that has long-lasting results and is clinically proven to remove unwanted hair efficiently, gently and quickly.
Does Laser Hair Removal Treatment Hurt?
Laser hair removal treatment isn’t as painful as other hair removal methods. It can be used to remove hair even in sensitive areas, such as the face or bikini area, as well as from your back, abdomen or chest. In the interests of client comfort, we are able to provide local anaesthetic cream to reduce discomfort if necessary.
What Kind of Laser Machine Do I Use?
At our Horsham clinic, we use a Diode laser manufactured by Lumenis called the Lightsheer. The diode laser is proven to be the most effective long-term hair removal device in the world.
When will I see the results?
You are likely to see noticeable results after your first treatment. Most clients experience between 80-90% less hair growth after a full course.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments needed varies between clients, depending on the following, the area being treated, skin and hair colour and medical history. This can be discussed in more detail at the time of consul- tation.
Can you treat Asian / Afro-Caribbean / Dark skin?
Yes – we specialise in the above ethnic backgrounds. During your consultation, I will examine and make an assessment of both your skin and hair type and perform a patch test.
Do men have Laser Hair Removal?
Yes, laser hair removal is a very popular procedure with men particularly on the back, shoulders, chest, neck and around the beard area.
Can I shave in between treatments?
You are advised to shave only once between treatments, preferably one week after you have been treated to remove any shedding hair. You should refrain from plucking, threading or waxing as this will only encourage further hair growth.
“I have so much more time in the morning as I don’t have to pluck. After one treatment I have noticed a huge difference. I should have come a lot sooner”
